WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF CONTINENTAL DAY FOR DEMOCRACY AND AGAINST NEOLIBERALISM, CGT ARGENTINA DEVELOPED A DEBATE WITH A GREAT NUMBER OF AFFILIATED TRADE UNIONS TO INFORM AND DISSEMINATE ON THE NEW GENERATION OF FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS.
It was attended by Secretary General of Southern Cone Trade Union Coordinating Committee [CCSCS], Antonio Jara, who developed the scope of the Action Plan of our regional organization to denounce the processes of soft hits looming over Latin America, especially in Brazil recent case and the demand to MERCOSUR members so that the democracy clause be applied to this country (Protocol of Ushuaia) as well as the isolation to which the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is being subjected during the most difficult time of its history. It was also attended by Secretary for Equal Opportunities and Gender, CGTRA, Noe Ruiz, who said that the most vulnerable are the losers before the retreat of democracy and the omnipresence of corporations in this neo-liberal stage During the training sessions, there were analyzed the threats associated with the current political projection in our country and the Cone South of the Alliance of the Pacific as Platform to adhere to the new Transpacific Partnership being a deeply negative impact for work, employment, labour rights, national and regional production and the sovereignty of our peoples. (Awareness Video: https://youtu.be/Bp-vJjlmCzQ). It was also deepened in the consequences involving the processes of liberalization of utilities, as it is the case of TISA (Awareness Video https://youtu.be/gbxY1H6jyRg) especially for the educational system, public health and Health insurance policies in Argentina, and for public works and public procurement system. The day has been a space that TUCA and several movements and organizations of the region have decided to build with the purpose of mobilizing in defense of democracy, currently subject to a strong pressure by conservative forces, and against the offensive of the neoliberalism, that has radicalized its neoliberal agenda, pushed by new Free Trade Agreements, that deepen our dependence and marginal participation in the global economy, undermining our rights and our sovereignty. On 5 November we commemorate 11 years of the triumph of peoples on the imperialist project of FTAA. Therefore, CGT as member of the CCSCS and TUCA join to this Continental Day that is celebrated this Friday and join to the call of Latin America peoples to reaffirm: Not even a step behind! Peoples continue the fight for integration, self-determination and sovereignty, against the free trade and transnational corporations!Tweet
